  • Chlorella

What Is Chlorella? Some of you are already familiar with Chlorella and enjoy it in your green drinks, your very green drinks! If your unfamiliar with chlorella, it is a tiny, single celled water grown algae containing a nucleus and an enormous amount of readily available chlorophyll (hence the beautiful dark green color). The chlorophyll in chlorella can help speed the cleansing of the bloodstream. Chlorella contains about 58% protein, all the B vitamins (more B12 than liver!), vitamin C and E, carbs.,a considerable amount of beta-carotine, amino acids, and trace minerals. Chlorella is actually a complete food! And, because of the high content of protein, it is a good choice for those who choose not to eat meat. Chlorella is a food supplement that is especially important to have in your pantry, since it is so densely nutritious. It is most certainly a SUPER FOOD and I personally enjoy the flavor! Chlorella is very high in DNA and RNA and has been found to protect against the effects of ultraviolet radiation. In addition, chlorella is good at binding contaminates and heavy metals, making it super in helping your body detox; because of this, if you have been prone to junk food, you will want to start slowly. Chlorella has a strong cell wall, this makes it hard to gain access to it's nutrients; because of this processing is required. The cleanest chlorella is grown indoors in a controlled setting and it's purity verified. The Brighteon Store has several choices of chlorella, both in powder form and capsule, each one a trusted source for purity. You can trust their lab verified chlorella. • Digestive Enzymes

Enzymes are proteins that facilitate or help other reactions in the body to occur. There are several kinds of enzymes. Today we will talk about the ones primarily used for digestion and breaking down food. Enzymes are necessary to help break down and extract vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fatty acids from our foods. Did you know that digestion begins in the mouth? Our saliva contains enzymes amylase and lingual lipase that help break down starches and fat. Then, once in our stomach the food is mixed with other enzymes, and the breakdown continues. If you are deficient in certain nutrients you could also be deficient in enzymes; certain nutrients are needed for the body to produce enzymes. Mineral deficiencies can decrease pancreatic secretions (enzymes), as can eating too much sugar and too much along with the wrong kind, of fat. Leaky gut and of course chronic stress also plays a negative role. If you have had a poor diet, had too much sugar, fat or alcohol or are ill, you may be deficient and it may be a good idea to supplement. Popular are the organic glandular pork. There are also beef or lamb pancreatic enzymes and then there are plant derived, made from fungal antigens. Basically enzymes are taken with meals to help with the assimilation of food. You want to extract as much nutrients as possible from the foods you eat. If you feel you may need some help in this area My trusted source for a glandular is this one from Klaire Labs. Some, perhaps because of allergies or other reasons may prefer a plant enzyme such as Similase from Integrative Therapies . Dairy sensitivity is a common one because some do not have enough lactase, the enzyme in the gut that helps digest milk sugars and this causes milk to be an irritant You may be lactase deficient if you experience bloating, gas or pain after digesting dairy. In that case this enzyme supplement from Integrative Therapies, Similase GFCF could be of benefit. (Note: This post contains affiliate links. Read our full disclosure here)

  • Essential Oils Are a Gift

Essential oils are truly a gift and can assist you in your pursuit of wellness. Essential oils are very diverse in their effects and can perform several different functions. If you are unfamiliar with them the best way to introduce them is by using a diffuser like the one shown. A diffuser places the oils into the air for inhalation. You do not want to use a diffuser with a heat source, as this will alter the chemical makeup and the oils therapeutic qualities. A cold-air diffuser uses room temperature air to blow the oil up against a nebulizer. this breaks the oils up to a micro fine mist that is then dispersed into the air, covering hundreds of square feed in seconds. The oils will then remain suspended for several hour to freshen and improve the quality of the air. The anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and antiseptic properties of the oils kill bacteria and help to reduce fungus and mold. Diffused essential oils have been found to reduce the amount of airborne chemicals and metallics in the air and have been known to create greater physical and emotional harmony. And, they fill your air with amazing scents! The greatest benefit has been to diffuse for 15 minutes out of an hour so that the olfactory system has time to recover. If you do not have access to a diffuser you may place some oil on a cotton ball, handkerchief or pillowcase and holding close to your face and inhale. But having a diffuser is so nice! The essential oils of Frankincense and myrrh were given to the Christ child as gifts . These oils remain gifts today for all of us, with the many wonderful benefits to our health! Once you are familiar with diffusing essential oils you can then experiment by using essential oils in topical applications, compresses baths, cleaners and cooking. • Today's Harvest

It's December 4th and I just came in with today's garden harvest. It was time to get the rest of the carrots before the ground freezes; by the firmness of the soil it won't be much longer. Most of the carrots are small, but that's o.k.; these carrots were a late sowing and were sown among the cilantro and the caraway. These carrots will be stored with the dirt on them to keep them fresh. They smell wonderful, both the carrot root and the green tops. Those green tops will be used in green drinks, giving a flavor of a hint of summer along with all their nutrients. While I was digging I found some salad burnet and some arugula, along with a small head of red cabbage! Red cabbage is an antioxidant king! It has 6 times the antioxidants then green cabbage, however, all cabbage is one of our most nutritious foods. Here is a Couple of Ways You Can Use Cabbage. Chop cabbage and saute it in olive oil flavored with garlic and add it to stir-frys. or Saute red or green cabbage with red, orange or purple carrots for a colorful nutrient rich dish.
